Barbecue Sauce

Homemade barbecue sauce…Yes, please! (Contributed by the Thyroid, Head and Neck [THANC] Foundation)


Bring this barbecue sauce to your next summer outing. It won’t disappoint!


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups no-salt ketchup (Heinz and others make this)

  • ¼ cup cider vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1 tablespoon no salt mustard

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, or non-iodized table salt

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • ¼ teaspoon ground pepper

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a pot.

  2. Simmer on low heat for 20 to 30 minutes until well blended.

  3. Let cool then transfer to a jar. You can store this in the refrigerator for 8 to 12 weeks.
